Got A Thing Need A Thing

Privacy Policy

Effective August 27, 2026 · Last updated August 27, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Got A Thing Need A Thing, LLC ("GTNT," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and marketplace (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. This Privacy Policy applies to visitors to the website and to registered users of the Platform.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, and phone number if provided.

Identity verification information: To verify identity, Stripe collects government-issued ID information and a selfie photograph, which it compares against the ID document to confirm that the person presenting it is its holder. That comparison involves processing biometric information derived from the image. Stripe acts as an independent controller of the identity data it collects — including the selfie and any biometric data derived from it — and handles that data under its own privacy policy and retention schedule. GTNT receives a pass or fail result and does not receive or store copies of government-issued ID documents, selfie images, or biometric data.

Listing content: item descriptions, condition notes, pricing, photos, and general location (zip code) you provide when creating a listing.

Booking and transaction information: dates, prices, and booking status for rentals you request or receive.

Payment information: Stripe processes payments and Owner payouts as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. GTNT does not collect or store full payment card numbers.

Location information: the zip code or city/state you provide to search for nearby listings.

Communications: messages or notes exchanged through booking-related fields, and any correspondence with GTNT support.

Usage information: standard technical logs (e.g., pages visited, timestamps, general device/browser information) generated by using the site.

3. How We Use Information

  • To operate the marketplace: creating accounts, publishing listings, processing bookings.
  • To verify identity and reduce fraud.
  • To process payments and Owner payouts.
  • To send booking-related notifications (e.g., a new rental request, an accept/decline decision) via our email provider.
  • To review and approve listings before they go public.
  • To resolve disputes between users, including reviewing condition photos and messages exchanged through the Platform for deposit decisions.
  • To keep the Platform safe and enforce our Terms: reviewing listings, photos, and messages exchanged through the Platform to investigate reports, prevent fraud or misuse, and respond to unlawful or harmful content.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including tax collection and remittance.
  • To improve and maintain the Platform.

4. How We Share Information

With other users: your name, verification status, and reviews are visible on your public listings and profile, and your name is shown to the other party in booking requests, bookings, messages, and related notifications. Owners and Renters may choose to exchange additional contact or coordination details with each other through Platform messages once a booking is accepted, so pickup and return can be arranged. Any details you choose to share in this way are your disclosure, not GTNT's. GTNT does not share either party's email address or phone number with the other.

With service providers who process data on our behalf, currently:

  • Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and file storage.
  • Stripe — payment processing and identity verification.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.

For legal reasons: to comply with applicable law, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, property, or safety of GTNT, our users, or the public.

Business transfers: if GTNT is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

GTNT does not sell your personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Data Retention

GTNT retains personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to run the Platform. GTNT keeps transaction and tax records for the period the law requires. After you close your account, GTNT deletes or de-identifies your personal information within 90 days, except for records it must keep to meet legal, tax, or dispute-resolution obligations.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security breach affects your personal information, GTNT will notify you and any regulator as required by applicable law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. You may also update most account information directly within the Platform. You may ask GTNT to close your account at any time, as described in Section 19 of the Terms of Service; closure starts the retention period described in Section 5 of this Policy.

This section applies to California residents and describes how GTNT handles your personal information.

  • Categories collected: the categories described in Section 2, including identifiers, account and contact details, identity-verification results, listing and booking information, approximate location, communications, and technical usage data.
  • Categories disclosed: GTNT discloses these categories only to the service providers named in Section 4, and for the legal reasons and business transfers described in Section 4.
  • No sale or sharing: GTNT does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Review and correction: you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may update most details in your account, by contacting GTNT at the email address in Section 11.
  • Notice of changes: GTNT updates this Privacy Policy as described in Section 10 and posts the effective date at the top.
  • Do Not Track: GTNT does not track users across third-party websites for advertising and does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because it does not run that kind of tracking.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for adults and is not directed to children. GTNT does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and does not knowingly collect personal information from any child under 13. If GTNT learns that it has collected personal information from a child under 13, it will delete that information and close the account. A parent or guardian who believes a child under 13 has provided personal information may contact GTNT at the email address in Section 11 to request deletion.

9. Cookies and Tracking

GTNT uses only essential cookies for account login and session management through Supabase Auth. GTNT does not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. GTNT will update this section if that changes.

10. Changes to This Policy

GTNT may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, GTNT will post the updated policy, provide notice by email to the address on your account or by an in-Platform notice, and update the effective date at the top. Continued use of the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
